The CEO of Square Enix announced in a letter that the company 2022 will focus on the NFTs. In large parts of the gaming community, the message was not good. Fans also Fantasy XIV also worried about NFTs in their MMORPG.

This has announced Square Enix: The CEO of the Japanese RPG forge, Yoke Matsuda, turned to the investors and fans of the company in a New Year's writing. In it, he counted in coarse trains, which would lay new priorities Square Enix in 2022.

Matsuda spoke in the letter mainly on the met averse, NFTs and Blockchain Games. The CEO sees in the technologies and features the potential to become the future of gaming, which enables the devs the development of new self-supporting games.

Based on the attention that has received blockchain and NFTs 2021, Matsuda goes out of a change within the gaming industry. Accordingly, Square Enix plans to participate in this change:

I understand that some players who play to have fun and currently make the majority, express their skepticism to these new trends and that is understandable. However, I believe that there will be a certain amount of people whose motivation is playing to contribute. So I mean that you want to make the games more exciting. Traditional gaming has not given this group of players not explicit incentive. [...]

According to Matsuda, according to Matsuda, it should therefore demand the user generated content, so content created by the players themselves to express themselves creatively. This type of content can now be rewarded and encouraged by NFTs, so the CEO.

He also refers to the Play to Earn concept, which is based, for example, MMORPGs like me4. In it, players can earn proper money through Greeting.

What NFTs are in the gaming can you read here:

FFI community is concerned about your MMORPG

That's FFI player: In the FFI community, the news of Matsuda waves has beaten. The players on Reddit and in the official forums show up concerned that the NFTs could also celebrate the move in their MMORPG.

In a large thread with over 3,700 up votes, players who disappointed showed themselves and strictly pronounced against it. Some spoke out their hopes that the director of FFI, Naomi Yeshiva, could prevent NFTs in FFI would be introduced. Others, on the other hand, warned that Yeshiva could not have a lot of says in such a decision.

Individual players even announced that they would stop their subscriptions when NFTs should actually come to FFI.

If you pack the NFT-KRAM in a main FF game, then I'm out. [...] If the NFTs are banished to the Mobile Spate of Square Enix, which are not made by the Division 3 [developer of FFI], then I will ignore them. As soon as it spreads on things I could play or buy, I'm out.

Regalia on Reddit (571 Up votes)

In another thread, a player threatened half-funny that he would retire the owners of NFTs in MMORPG in fatal space attacks. The thread received over 6,600 up votes and much approval.

Part of the players also manage the NFTs indirectly for the server problems of FFI, which has been prevailing for several months and provided extremely long queues when logging in. In a letter to the players' director Yeshiva declared that the problems are at the global shortage of semiconductors for the required hardware.

And while he had not mentioned the NFTs, they are in the perception of some players co-responsible for the semiconductor scarcity. The GPUs and CPUs needed for the mining are bought by the miners in large quantities and also need the scarce semiconductors.

NFTs in FFXIV? Asmongold OUTRAGED by Square Enix Plan In the official forums, it was also noted that NFTs in FFI would be another type of monetization in the already payable MMORPG:

The basic game and the add-ons of FFI must be purchased There is a monthly subscription There is an optional cash shop with cosmetic items and level boosts and story skips Various services such as changing the appearance of the character or server transfer are chargeable

Another part of the players said that it is unlikely that NFTs could come to FFI. This lacks the necessary infrastructure and there would also be problems with Steam in the case. The MMORPG is available there, but Valve has banned blockchain games on his platform.

These are the reactions: Also outside the FFI bubble, there were social media such as Twitter, in official forums and on Reddit many users who are set to the message about NFTs rather negatively with. The utterance of CEO was most difficult, the fact that SE is aware that a large part of the player's playback was against the NFT trends, but still wants to push the company in this direction.

In the comments, these users spoke that Square Enix will now convert their games to jobs in which players want to earn money:

Why should you have fun if you can earn money? You can play through the quotes at 'play to have fun' so really feel the contempt. — Zoo Play to contribute, sounds like a slogan from a dystopic movie. — Pip Squeak

Also, the letter from CEO Matsuda contains only signal words for investors and no concrete application possibilities for NFTs in Square Enix games that these players would make fun, innovative and interesting.

The reactions are not surprising. The Publisher Ubisoft had to hide their video about NFTs on YouTube because it had received more than 22,000 dislikes at just about 1,000 likes.

What is your opinion on NFTs? Would you support you if you should be implemented in FFI, or would you prefer to make your hands off? Write it to us in the comments.
