Age of Empires (English for Age of the World Care ) refers to a number of computer games that count to the group of real-time strategy games. With about 30 million copies sold, the series is one of the most successful PC games rows at all.
Age of Empires II is a masterpiece among the RTS, so it is logical that Relic Entertainment and World s Edge want to capture the essence that makes it special and implement it in Age of Empires IV. This game makes some artistic differences in relation to Age of Empires III, but it feels like it s for the best.
At a glance, visuals do not look like a great improvement over Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, but Age of Empire IV allows players to zoom in closer to action than before. This is where you can take in the details.
The nature of the game is that the player monitors his units, constructs his structures and controls all from above. For this reason, it is useful that everything is identifiable remotely because the different types of units and buildings have different uses and specialties. Age of Empires IV does it very well, allowing players to clearly see the different units, while maintaining artistic and historical precision.
The campaign takes players in some different locations for important battles throughout history. Missions are accentuated by videos and a literature narration to give the context of the battles and objectives of the mission.
In many ways, Age of Empires IV will feel very familiar for veteran players and maintain the sensation that the series has built, but also adds a few modern keys, such as a selection of improved units. It also adopts certain features similar to other successful RTS games, such as Civilization, where players will have to advance their group to a new era.
As much Age of Empires IV sticks to what has made the success and the pleasure of the series in previous games, as much it does not do enough to bring the series much further. It would be good that this game sort of the shadow of Age of Empires II.
